How to Market Humbly

Humility is an attribute that is hard for people to practice, in general. We are very self-oriented and, even, self-obsessed. It is a disease in us. But what about marketing? Is it prideful to market your company/church/client? Is it boastful to point out how your company's products/services are better? Is it sinful to make sure your city knows your church exists? Maybe, but maybe not. Here is how you can market your company/church but do so humbly.

Why Design Matters

Scripture is filled with teachings and directives to not focus so much on the outward appearance, but the inward. For example, when Samuel is trying to find Israel's King, God instructs Samuel He cares about what is inside a person, not what is outside. So, does this mean we shouldn't care how anything looks? Our church/company building? Our logo? Our clothes? Here is why good design matters and how it actually brings glory to God.

The Bondage of Self-Obsession

Our society has a major problem: we love ourselves too much. Even those who "hate themselves" really just have deflated egos. The answer isn't that we need to love ourselves more, and the answer isn't that we need to hate ourselves more. The answer is that we need to stop thinking about ourselves so much and, rather, be totally and completely Christ-centered.

The Problem of Apathy

When you read stories of missionaries and pastors throughout history, it seems they had such a fire in them. The Spirit drove these men and women. But then we look at ourselves and don't see the same fire. Many of us lack it. We feel no zeal, almost no care, for the Lord. Rather, we feel totally apathetic. What are signs of apathy to look out for? How should we respond?
